What is Intuition? Predict future outcomes!

How to follow your intuition? Predict future outcomes!

Have you ever had the feeling that something isn't quite right in a situation? Or it would turn out this way rather than that. Yes! This occurs when we do not need to use reasoning to predict the outcome, sometimes we simply know. But that doesn't mean that everything we think is correct all the time. Today, I'll try to shed some light on all of its aspects.

What is Intuition?

What is intuition? By Jerry Hai

Intuition is an ability in which you manage to understand something instinctively without reasoning and logic. For instance, you haven't done well in your exams but surprisingly on the day of result, you get a feeling that you will pass surely. Turns out you did pass, congrats! But wait a sec, Ahhh! No, it turns out your gut feeling was wrong, yes both outcomes are possible, not necessarily that your intuition is always going to be true.

Let's discuss about that!

Intuition Quotes by Jerry Hai

How to perceive intuition?

Why is it that your intuition is sometimes correct and sometimes incorrect? Simply put, you can understand that by understanding yourself. You are a human, and it is a fact that humans are not perfect; they all make mistakes, from the most brilliant minds to illiterate people. In the same way, intuition is an ability that can be both perfect and imperfect at times.

How's it useful? If it's not even accurate most of the times?

My personal experience!

Even if your instincts are not always correct, they are still useful. How? I'll bring up the human imperfection criteria again: we're not always perfect, and we make a lot of mistakes, but that's what gives us so many new ideas to experiment with. In other words, I realised that sometimes what our instincts tell us has the opposite impact. For example, if your gut feeling tells you that you're going to fail your exam, that means there's a chance you'll pass it. Yes! Our instincts can sometimes tell us the opposite of what is true. So, if you put your mind to it, you might be able to reach a conclusion.

Advantages and Disadvantages of relaying on Intuition:

Advantages of intuition:

  • One of the most significant benefits of intuition is that it allows you to make quick and effective decisions in complex and unfamiliar situations.

  • Your intuition assists you in determining your life's purpose. Because your intuition is connected to your subconscious, it can guide you and assist you in identifying dreams that are consistent with your core values and true sense of purpose.

  • People who trust their instincts are more open to new ideas. The rational mind relies on logical patterns, which can be limiting at times. In contrast, intuition sees things that your rational mind does not, allowing you to recognise them.

  • Intuition aids in reading people. For example, you could be talking to a client who says he wants to hire your company but his body language suggests otherwise. Intuition can assist you in detecting such signs, allowing you to adjust your approach in order to keep the client. This can sometimes mean the difference between success and failure.

  • Intuition also serves as a warning signal. Even after carefully analysing a situation rationally, you may overlook some risks. Intuition can warn you when something doesn't feel right, allowing you to avoid potentially disastrous situations.

  • Intuition provides access to greater intelligence and wisdom.

Disadvantages of Intuition:

  • Intuition can be biassed and prejudiced because it is based on your experiences. Emotions and prejudices can sometimes lead to bad intuitive decisions.

  • Because intuition is not sequential, most people are unable to explain their intuitive decisions. When working within the context of a team, this can be difficult.

  • People with extensive experience and a strong sense of intuition in one field may become overly reliant on their intuition and apply it to situations in which they have little experience, resulting in poor intuitive decisions.
